Welcoming Back Jackson Winter 🎧✂️
Hailing from Noosa Heads, Jackson takes over BUZZCUTS RADIO with a set recorded live at Captain Sip Sop's Barbershop!
His DJ journey started back in 2011 after a mate dumped a pair of CDJ 800s and an ancient Numark mixer at his share house, leading to plenty of self-taught trial and error 😅
While raw, hardware-produced house tracks are king when he’s behind the decks 🥷🔥, his sound is shaped by late 2000s electro, '90s hip-hop, and late '90s drum & bass, rocking his current mullet ✂️ and bringing the heat, here’s Jackson in the mix—and keep your eyes peeled for his upcoming SpicyWax projects! 🌶️🔊"
How I Got Into DJing
I started DJing in 2017 after wanting to do it for years. I bought some decks, taught myself the basics, and picked up tips from friends. Promoting festivals and selling tickets helped me enter the industry, build a strong network, and make valuable connections along the way.
Favourite Styles & Genres
When it comes to DJing, house music—especially raw, hardware-produced records—will always be king for me. Outside of the booth, I usually unwind to a mix of down-tempo, lounge, jazz, 90s hip-hop, and jazzy liquid drum & bass, alongside the late 2000s electro that first shaped my taste.
Best & Worst Haircut
My absolute favourite haircut is the current mullet I'm rocking today—it just feels right. On the flip side, the worst haircut I’ve ever suffered through was my old shoulder-length mullet with the bottom half dyed peroxide blonde. Definitely a look I'm glad to leave in the past!
