How I Got Into DJing

I started DJing about three and a half years ago, something I never really planned, despite always being surrounded by music growing up in New Orleans. After opening a venue in Noosa (QLD) and curating playlists that shaped the space’s vibe, I was encouraged to try DJing myself. Within days I had my first decks and was fully committed to learning, quickly landing opportunities with high-end clients like Tiffany & Co. and Ferrari thanks to strong mentorship early on.

Favourite Styles & Genres

My taste spans from classic rock, funk, and old-school R&B to soul, jazz, Brazilian sounds, disco, house, and electro, all of which have shaped the way I approach music today. Growing up around artists like Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, and Sade gave me a deep appreciation for groove and musicality, which still carries through into everything I play. I’m especially drawn to tracks that blend live elements with rhythm and feeling — whether it’s a soulful vocal, a warm bassline, or something with a touch of nostalgia. For me, it’s less about the genre and more about the energy a track brings, choosing music that can shift the mood, elevate the atmosphere, and create a genuine connection with people on the dance floor.

Standout Influences

From early influences in funk and R&B to discovering house and electro in Miami, my journey has been shaped by a wide range of sounds and experiences that still influence how I play today. Each phase added a new layer — from groove and soul to rhythm and energy — shaping how I connect with a crowd. Having the right mentors early on helped fast-track my growth, building both my technical skills and confidence behind the decks.
