Introducing Jack Home at BuzzCuts Radio. 🎧✂️
Born and raised in Yandina Creek, tucked between the bush and the beach, Jack brings a sound that feels grounded, warm, and full of character. 🌿🌊
For his session inside Sip Sops Barbershop, Jack leans into the deeper side of house — rolling grooves, smooth textures, and a flow that slowly pulls you in rather than shouting for attention. 🎧💈 His musical world started early, from Rage-era Fatboy Slim memories to blues, dub, reggae, 90s hip hop, indie sounds, and the life-changing influence of Nicolas Jaar’s Space Is Only Noise. That wide-open taste comes through in the way he selects: patient, thoughtful, and full of feeling. 🔊
Now also building his own event project, In Good Company, Jack brings that same passion for atmosphere and connection into the mix — a set made for deep listeners, late-night movers, and anyone who loves getting lost in the groove. ✨
How I Got Into DJing
I first got into DJing over 10 years ago after getting my first little controller — which I may or may not have rigged a work competition to win, haha. After that, a DJ friend of mine started teaching me at his place behind Coolum Bays. He had this beautiful little spot there, and I’ve got really good memories of those early days learning the basics, figuring out how to mix, and slowly getting pulled deeper into it. That was really where it all started for me — hanging out, playing music, learning from a mate, and realising how much I loved the whole process.
Favourite Styles & Genres
My taste in music has always been pretty wide open. Growing up, I listened to everything from Mississippi blues to dub, reggae, and whatever sounded good at the time. One of my earliest music memories was hearing my older brother and sister listening to Rage during the peak Fatboy Slim era, and I became hooked on the You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby album. Later on, Nicolas Jaar’s Space Is Only Noise completely blew my mind and changed the way I heard music. These days, it really depends on the mood, but I’ve been listening to a lot of alt, indie, and 90s hip hop.
Best & Worst Haircut
Best haircut is easy — my man Clay at 210 on Sydney Road in Brunswick. If you’re ever in Melbourne, don’t bother going anywhere else. He just knows what he’s doing, and it’s one of those haircuts where you walk out feeling properly fresh. Worst haircut? Honestly, probably the pretty average buzz cuts I give myself on a regular basis, haha. I keep going back to it, but the results are definitely not always professional. Sometimes it works, sometimes it absolutely does not — but that’s part of the charm.
